The brewery was founded in 1894 and the first beer was brewed on February 20th of the same year. It was created by brewer Ján Matúš, who had experience from the brewery in Pilsen. The annual production was 70 000 hectolitres of beer.
In 1948 the brewery was nationalised. With this came a threefold increase in capacity, but the beer was slowly losing quality as the quantity increased. After the revolution, the brewery was bought by Karol Konárik, the beer was exported abroad and a canning line was added. In 1999 the brewery was bought by Heineken and in 2003 production moved to Nitra.
Exactly on the 130th annual anniversary of the brewery's establishment and the sad 20th anniversary of its closure, we managed to reopen the brewery in 2023. From the huge premises we opened two articulated buildings, with 4 floors and a basement. For example, we opened the former brewhouse, the offices or the fermentation room.
